MGM once again sponsored the annual social inclusion conference organized by the Charity Association of Macau Business Readers, as one of the Company’s initiatives in raising public awareness on social inclusion. The conference entitled Parenting and Education of People with Intellectual Disability, held at MGM COTAI’s Ballroom today, was the beginning of a series of activities planned to further promote social inclusion through art workshop and sporting events within the month of April.
A number of speakers and field experts, came from regional and beyond, were invited to share ideas and insights at the conference on the topic of social inclusion for nearly 400 audience members from a wide array of communities, including students from Macau Anglican College, University of Macau, representatives from University of Saint Joseph, Best Buddies Macau Association, Macau Down Syndrome Association, Macau IC2 Association, Zhuhai Autism Society, as well as MGM’s management team members and its Golden Lion Volunteer Team. The conference highlighted the importance of creating a more welcoming and inclusive world for all, where individual differences are appreciated and respected.
Promoting Social Inclusion through Art and Sporting Events
On the conference day, 45 athletes with disabilities also joined hands with MGM’s Volunteer Team members and local artists from Art for All Association, to create designs for mannequins, motorbike toy models and helmets and more. It also helped to weave a closer connection between professional artists and adult athletes with disabilities through art, leading to a better understanding and awareness of everyone’s individual contribution to society with social inclusion at its heart.
As a keen supporter to Golf Masters, ever since its inaugural tournament in 2012, MGM will once again take part in the golf tournament, where senior executives will pair up with the athletes for winning the Golf Master title in the spirit of teamwork, competition, and camaraderie. This sporting event offers a great opportunity for community members to see how talented the participants are, and what anybody with disability is capable of when given the opportunity.
Spreading Good Cheer throughout the Community
In addition to art workshop and sporting events, MGM recently visited the Concordia School for Special Education to celebrate the Easter with over 60 schoolchildren between 6 and 12 years old. During the visit, over 30 MGM’s volunteer team members took the opportunity to interact with the children through games which are designed specifically for kids with special needs, as well as singing and magic performances. MGM’s pastry chefs also specially crafted eye-catching Easter sandwiches and desserts for each child, as a token of MGM’s well wishes for a cheerful festival filled with endless joy to the children at Concordia.
With the vision to Create a Better Tomorrow Today, MGM is committed to participating in diverse philanthropic activities aimed at increasing public awareness on the importance of social inclusion, bringing the community closer together and contributing towards an inclusive and compassionate future for Macau.
