MGM Organizes Annual Spring Cleaning for Seniors
Spreading Warmth to Over 400 Local Senior Citizens
MGM organized 200 team members to participate in the annual “Spring Clean for Love”, cleaning homes for the senior households in need.

Continuing the Company’s philanthropic Chinese New Year tradition for the senior community of Macau, MGM Golden Lion Team once again held their annual signature programs “Spring Clean for Love” and “Haircut for Love” programs for over 400 local seniors and prepare them for the brand new lunar year.

Recognizing the significance of “ushering out the old, greeting the new” tradition, MGM organized the 9th “Spring Clean for Love” for seniors from the Centro de Dia Brilho da Vida of Caritas Macau, getting their homes fresh and festive for the upcoming CNY. Ms. Pansy Ho, Co-Chairperson & Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, and Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, led a group of 200 MGM Volunteers, nearly half of whom are management team members, and spent half a day cleaning 220 households at the Fai Chi Kei housing unit for senior citizens. While some of the volunteers were busy cleaning the homes and putting on CNY decorations, some others were keeping the seniors company and helping them to put the hand-knitted scarves on. MGM’s lion mascots, Leo and Leona, also joined and dressed up as the God of Fortune to send out festive greetings, along with the traditional lion dance performances to fully embrace the CNY festivity.

MGM also distributed CNY gift bags to the senior citizens during the visit. On top of the thoughtful variety of wellness items, such pre-packaged Chinese soup and magnifying nail clippers, this year the gift bags especially include scarves hand-knitted by over 400 MGM team members over the past months. Volunteers sent some extra warmth and comfort to the seniors by putting the scarves on them.

Ms. Pansy Ho said, “I am thrilled to see so many of our team members devoting their time and hard work in spreading warmth and joy to our seniors. Over the years, we have built precious friendships with them through the annual CNY spring cleaning and monthly visits. They has contributed a lot to the development of our city, and therefore we shall care for them more often and make them happy at their later years.”

Mr. and Mrs. Ao, a pair of senior couple living in Fai Chi Kei housing unit, expressed their appreciation, “Every year before CNY, we are grateful to see MGM volunteers coming out from their busy schedules to clean every corner of our home, along with thoughtful gifts, like this year’s hand knitted scarves. We are delighted to see many nice friends visiting us at home, which makes us feel the festivity of CNY.”

In addition to the spring cleaning event, another MGM’s CNY tradition – “Haircut for Love” program also took place over the month of January, where MGM volunteers provided complimentary haircuts to a total of over 100 seniors.

Extending the CNY blessing while promoting social inclusion, this year MGM has partnered with Fu Hong and Casa de Peliseo Sam Meng Chi of Macau Association for the Mentally Handicapped, to prepare over 3,000 Fortune Bags for hotel guests who stay in MGM MACAU or MGM COTAI during the first three days of CNY.
