MGM Takes the Lead in Providing Cleaning Services to Social Enterprises to Fight the Epidemic
Rallying around the Disabled Community to Weather the Storm
MGM provided cleaning services to Fuhong Society of Macau.

The coronavirus epidemic has brought various challenges to the city. Non-profit social welfare organizations and social enterprises, just like the many other local enterprises, are also struggling financially in the midst of this epidemic. Determined to support their operations and help ensure a safe and hygienic working environment for people with disabilities, MGM has become the first enterprise in Macau to provide cleaning services to social enterprises, sheltered workshops, vocational training centers, treatment and educational centers of Fuhong Society of Macau, Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau, Macau Special Olympics and Macau Caritas. The Company also gave out hand sanitizers and other cleaning supplies to them for sustaining a clean environment.

In addition, MGM donated body temperature detectors with facial recognition capabilities to Fuhong Society of Macau, helping them to keep their cost in human resources down as the devices also boast the function of recording attendance. The first of its kind to be put into service in Macau, the system truly enhances rehabilitation services with innovative technologies. MGM hopes that these supporting initiatives would better the services for people with disabilities, spreading Macau’s spirit of benevolence to good causes within the community.

Jennifer Chau, Director of Fuhong Society of Macau, expressed her gratitude, “The business of our social enterprises has dropped drastically, and yet we still need to sustain the livelihood of our trainees, which overall has posed severe challenges to our operation. In this critical situation, we are thrilled to receive supports from MGM, who has cleaned our centers thoroughly for providing a clean workplace to our trainees who will soon resume working in the centers. MGM has also gifted us advanced body temperature detectors that feature attendance recording function. This will save us quite a lot of administrative resources, and subsequently improve the efficiency of our services.”

Lio Sao Wa, General Secretary of Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau, said, “Our employment assistance program has been suspended due to the epidemic, and our trainees are worried that the skills they learned from previous trainings will grow rusty from disuse. We are all thankful for MGM’s timely help as they have prepared a reassuring environment for both our trainees and customers, which will surely restore their confidence in our service when we resume operation.”

Over the past weeks, MGM has been paying close attention to the needs of different parties in the community after the outbreak of the epidemic. Earlier, MGM has supplied the frontline staff of Macau Federation of Trade Unions, General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau and Caritas Macau with masks, disposable caps and other necessary items. The Company also prepared 1,000 supply kits for local elderly, which were distributed with the helping hands of the above three organizations, allowing them to stay worry-free at home and thus reduce the risks of infection.
