MGM Donates MOP300,000 to Support Holy House of Mercy’s Distribution of Food Hampers to Underprivileged Families
Hand Sanitizers as Add-on Gift to Counter the Pandemic
For the 8th consecutive year, MGM donated MOP300,000 to the Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop project in support of its food hamper distribution to over 360 local underprivileged families, helping them to reduce living expenses.

MGM recently donated MOP300,000 to the Macau Holy House of Mercy’s Welfare Shop project for the 8th consecutive year in support of its food hamper distribution to over 360 local underprivileged families, bringing MGM’s total commitment to this meaningful cause to MOP2.3 million which has benefitted about 7,900 people. This year the food hampers contained hand sanitizers on top of foodstuff and daily necessities. The charitable gifts not only help the families reduce living expenses but also encourage them to maintain good personal hygiene to combat the pandemic.

Cheque presentation ceremony for the food hamper distribution was held at the Rehabilitation Centre for the Blind of Macau Holy House of Mercy. Representatives included Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director; Mr. Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic Officer and Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Ms. Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Ms. Irene Wong, Vice President of Public and Community Relations of MGM. The cheque was presented to Mr. António José de Freitas, President of Board of Trustees of Macau Holy House of Mercy in the presence of Mr. Io Hong Meng, President of the Supervisory Committee of General Union of Neighborhood Associations of Macau (UGAMM) and Ms. Chio Lan Ieng, Vice President of the Board of Directors of Macau Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM).

MGM donated 5,000 masks to Our Lady of Mercy Home for the Elderly in March to support their anti-pandemic measures. Led by its caring spirit, MGM specially donated 400 hand sanitizers for putting into the food hampers distributed by Holy House of Mercy, which also contained rice, noodles, canned food, oatmeal, cooking oil as well as some daily necessities as in previous years. These hampers were given out to underprivileged families referred by FAOM, UGAMM, Macau Holy House of Mercy and Association of Parents of the People with Intellectual Disabilities of Macau. MGM hopes that the kindness will provide the shot in the arm and help the families get through the pandemic.

With the vision of Create a Better Tomorrow Today, MGM has supported the Welfare Shop project since its launch in 2013 to alleviate the financial burden of disadvantaged families and strengthen social cohesion.
