The third session of the 13th National People’s Conference (NPC) and the third session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), commonly known as “two sessions”, successfully concluded at the end of May. To help team members keep abreast of our nation’s development, MGM held the “Seminar on the Spirit of Two Sessions” today as part of the Company’s National Education Series. MGM had the honor of having two Macau delegates to the “two sessions”, including Ho Sut Heng, member of NPC and President of Macau Federation of Trade Unions; and Ho Teng Iat, Deputy Director of the Committee for Liaison with Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese under CPPCC, Member of the Standing Committee of the All-China Women's Federation and President of The Women's General Association of Macau, shared the highlights and spirit of the “two sessions” with over 200 MGM local mid-to-top management team members at MGM COTAI. The seminar enabled team members to realize that Macau’s development is closely intertwined with the prosperity and success of our nation.
The “Seminar on the Spirit of Two Sessions” was attended by a line-up of guests of honors, including Zhu Hong, Deputy Director General of Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Leong Man Ion, Acting Director of Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau; Kenneth Feng, President, Chief Strategic Officer and Director of MGM China Holdings Limited; Hubert Wang, President, Hospitality and Chief Financial Officer of MGM China Holdings Limited; and Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM.
The two guest speakers introduced the spirit of NPC and CPPCC session, along with the highlights of the annual sessions’ work reports and their significance for Macau’s economic development and people’s livelihood. Ho Sut Heng, who put forward proposals that were closely related to Macau at the NPC session, including the one on “Establishing an Innovative Mechanism for Advancing an In-depth Cooperation in Tourism between Hengqin and Macau”, said: “China’s determination to rule by law has been reflected by its policies on fostering economic recovery and safeguarding people’s livelihood after the pandemic, as well as the NPC’s passing of the Civil Code and the decision to make national security laws for Hong Kong. We can deeply feel that the nation always places great emphasis on the well-being of its people”
Ho Teng Iat spoke on “Fostering the Implementation of ‘One Country, Two Systems’ in Macau on a Sustainable Path” at the CPPCC session; she told MGM team members, “The ‘two sessions’ has practically boosted our confidence in national development. It has also reminded Macau people that we should believe in ‘One Country, Two Systems’. Macau cannot thrive persistently without the support of our nation. For this reason, we should get more acquainted with our country and strengthen our cohesion. It is particularly important to impart the advantages of ‘One Country, Two Systems’ to our next generations through national education, which is an attribute for the continued stability of China and Macau”.
Jovi Ng, Director of Rooms at MGM COTAI said, “I have been staying tuned for the information of the ‘two sessions’, yet I can only rely on news reports and social media platforms. I cherish the rare chance to learn directly from members of NPC and CPPCC at the seminar, which allows me to gain a deeper understanding of the opportunities that the nation has accorded to Macau and how our city can better integrate into China’s development. Our well-being certainly hinges on that of China. With the aim of contributing to both the nation and our city, we will strive to leverage on Macau’s competitive advantages and proactively engaged in national development.”
