As a leading integrated resort developer in Greater China, MGM has strived to be a role model for enterprises in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). Standing by our ethos of “Create A Better Tomorrow Today,” MGM has adopted an overarching sustainability framework encompassing five pillars — that are, People, Community, Planet, Partners & Guests, and Sustainability Governance — to propel the sustainable development on all fronts. Recently, MGM was named the “Green Pioneer Enterprise” at the “2021 Beautiful Greater Bay Area Happy Livelihood Award” and garnered four awards at the first edition of the National Human Resource Management (Service) Innovation Competition. The titles testify to the remarkable accomplishments of MGM in sustainable development and talent cultivation, which pave the way for a better life for the GBA residents.
A Paragon of GBA Green Enterprise
MGM has been at the forefront of sustainability. The title of the “Green Pioneer Enterprise,” MGM earned at the “2021 Beautiful Greater Bay Area Happy Livelihood Award” that was held at the end of November by Southern Metropolis Daily, is a manifestation of MGM’s pioneering role in green development. All along, MGM has shared insights into green operations, such as green architecture, eco-conscious construction, energy conservation, eco-technology, eco-procurement, and more, with industry practitioners to jointly explore the path toward a quality sustainable development of the GBA.
Several other accolades were bestowed for MGM’s unwavering green efforts. Previously, MGM was named among the top 10 performers in “the Greater China Hotel Business Sustainability Index (Hotel BSI)” and the top 20 performers in the “Greater Bay Area Business Sustainability Index (GBABSI)” in the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) Business School’s “2020 Business Sustainability Indices” program. Besides, MGM COTAI is by far the only mega complex and hotel in Macau to gain three-star certification in both Green Building Design and Operation Label, issued by the China Green Building and Energy Saving (Macau) Association. Such achievements have brought MGM COTAI the glory of being the first hotel in the GBA and second in Greater China to receive the certifications.
Help Develop GBA into a High-quality Talent Hub
To help develop the GBA into a hub of sophisticated talents, MGM is committed to nurturing a multi-talented team through innovative training programs, which are designed to unlock the potential of its team members. Recently, MGM garnered four awards at the first edition of the National Human Resource Management (Service) Innovation Competition. The first three are “Promotional Ambassador for the Integrated Development of the Greater Bay Area”, “Human Resources Management Innovation - Golden HR Award”, and “Annual Outstanding Human Resources Management Innovation for Value Creation.” Besides, our “MGM Digital Learning Series in Fighting COVID 19” online program received the title of “Outstanding Talent Management Practices.”
The “Promotional Ambassador for the Integrated Development of the Greater Bay Area” is a special title honoring the winning enterprises for their outstanding achievements in fostering the exchange of human resources service in the GBA. MGM is by far Macau’s first company to earn the award and was presented by Ms. Yang Jie, Party Branch Secretary and Executive Chairwoman of Guangdong Human Resource Management Association. The fact that MGM secured a total of four awards at a competition of 438 participating enterprises across the nation substantiates our first-class human resource endeavors.
At the awards ceremony, MGM was also invited to represent Macau and Hong Kong enterprises to attend a roundtable forum themed "Exploring the Path toward Innovation and Integration of Human Resource Management in the GBA Cultural Tourism Industry". Benjamin Hong, Director of Learning & Talent Development of MGM was there to share insights and experience of the company’s human resource management.
