MGM Wins Bronze for “Asia’s Best Sustainability Report 2021”
Macau’s First and Only Award Winner
MGM’s first sustainability report “Create a Better Tomorrow Today: Sustainability Report 2020” won Bronze prize for “Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (First Time)”.

Having been a pioneer of green enterprise in the Greater Bay Area, MGM has achieved another milestone by winning the Bronze prize for “Asia’s Best Sustainability Report (First Time)” at the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA) 2021. To date, MGM is Macau’s first and only entity to receive an award by ASRA, one of the world’s most prestigious awards honoring distinguished sustainability reporting.

The accolade recognizes the excellence and magnitude of MGM’s maiden sustainability report, titled “Create a Better Tomorrow Today: Sustainability Report 2020” (Report). It is MGM’s overarching sustainability roadmap — set with short, medium to long-term goals into 2030 across a wide range of initiatives to align with the Nation’s climate goals and the Macau government’s sustainability policy — aiming to bring continual betterment to people, the environment and economy of Macau.

The award-winning Report was selected as the Bronze winner as it offers a comprehensive overview of how MGM effectively integrates sustainability into its business operation. Besides, the Report displays MGM’s impactful engagement with stakeholders. The Company conducted an in-depth survey in 2020 polling over 780 internal and external stakeholders, through questionnaires, phone interviews and focus group meetings, to identify the material topics of greater importance that matter the most to MGM’s sustainable development.

Amid a competition at ASRA of nearly 600 entries from 14 countries or regions. MGM, aside from the Bronze award, was also named the “finalist” in two other categories at ASRA 2021, namely “Asia’s Best Materiality Reporting” and “Asia’s Best Stakeholder Reporting.” The ASRA’s winners were judged and selected by an independent panel against a wide range of parameters through three rounds of assessment.

As a responsible corporate citizen, MGM has put sustainability at the core of its day-to-day business. The Report formulates the Company’s holistic sustainability framework that focuses on three key commitments: “Responsible Business”, “Social Responsibility” and “Environmental Responsibility”. It also outlines a set of far-reaching sustainability targets, including peaking carbon emission by 2023, energy saving of 13% by 2025 as compared to 2019 levels, 100% electric shuttle buses by 2023, etc. — to ensure MGM drives positive changes to Macau’s society.
