Determined to build a world-class talent pool for Macau, MGM strives to provide a wide variety of on-job training and development opportunities for its team members. Such endeavors not only benefit the career path for local talent, but also elevates the professionalism of the city’s hospitality industry, which enriches Macau’s positioning as a World Center of Tourism and Leisure. With an aim to provide more targeted training for different types of professionals, MGM collaborated with the Macao Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) again to launch the “Professional Workforce Development Series” for team members. The Serie, categorized into three divisions, namely “Occupational Quality Training”, “Professional Certification” and “Career Development Program”, has been participated by a total of 4,800 team member since its inauguration in 2020. This year, the Serie extends to new professional areas, including “Elementary Video Shooting Skill for Promotion and Event Course”, “MGM F&B Professional Development Program” and other professional certificate courses, covering an estimate of 11,600 Golden Lion Team Members.
The launching ceremony of “Professional Workforce Development Series 2023” took place at MGM COTAI, which was attended by a line-up of guests of honors, including Wong Chi Hong, Director of DSAL; Cheung Wai, Head of Vocational Training Department of DSAL; Lei Man Teng, Head of Skills Evaluation Division of Vocational Training Department of DSAL; Leong Soi Man, Technician of DSAL; Yang Yi, Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR; Ho Sut Heng, President of The Macao Federation of Trade Unions (FAOM); Connie Loi, Vice President of Macao Institute for Tourism Studies (IFTM); Jack Chang, Deputy Director-General of Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM); Pui Seng In, President of Centro Amador de Estudos Permanentes de Macau and Macau Craftsmanship Academy; Hubert Wang, President & Chief Operating Officer of MGM, and Wendy Yu, Executive Vice President of Human Resources of MGM. During the ceremony, the Company set up a designated area for team members of Facility Management, Housekeeping and Food and Beverage, who have attained their professional certifications or taken training at the Macau Craftsmanship Academy, to showcase their learning outcomes and skills to the guests.

Witnessing the rapid development of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, we now provide a wide range of national-level training and certificate trainings for our team, with the unwavering support of DSAL. We also proactively take part in the ‘Guangdong-Macao One Examination, Multiple Certificates collaboration project’, where our team members were invited to be the experts of the scheme, setting another testament to our endeavors in talent development in the Greater Bay Area. Looking forward, we will continue to support the diverse development initiatives of the SAR government by setting up different trainings and career advancement programs, in view of elevating the professionalism of our team and strengthening Macau’s positioning as the World Center of Tourism and Leisure.”
Occupational Quality Training
MGM and DSAL started co-organizing “Occupational Quality Training” since 2016, aiming to enhance team members’ professional capability, awareness on occupational ethics and service quality. Training was offered to all team members from operational departments, including Table Games and Security Operations. The industry-first programs have also been made for Food and Beverage, Facility Management and Housekeeping department.
Professional Certification
The Professional Certification program, rolled out by MGM and DSAL in collaboration with various professional organizations, encourages team members of different departments to obtain professional qualifications. The Program highlights a lineup of certification programs in facility management, in view of nurturing top-notch talents for facility management in Macau.
In addition, MGM also supports the “Guangdong-Macao One Examination, Multiple Certificates collaboration project. This year, the Company introduces new schemes for Food and Beverage and Housekeeping services, in hope of elevating the professionalism and competitiveness of its team members.
Career Development Program
The Program introduces two new training projects, “MGM F&B Professional Development Program ” and “Elementary Video Shooting Skill for Promotion and Event Course” – the former provides on-job, systematic food and beverage service training to eligible local residents led by top industry leaders, which is aimed to nurture new food and beverage service talent; the latter, co-organized with the Macau Craftsmanship Academy, provides trainings on filming and multi-media creative techniques to team members. At the same time, the Company continues to invite DSAL to give lectures on Macao Labor Relations Law for its management team during the event. In the future, the Company also plans to collaborate with the Macau Craftsmanship Academy to roll out more diverse training programs for team members.
