The annual flagship brand IP event of MGM Oktoberfest Macau at MGM 2023 kicks off today at MGM COTAI, rocking the town with a 12-day authentic German bierfest! Once again returning to an outdoor venue this year, the event sets to be the biggest scale in history to welcome even more locals and tourists to join the “Macau meets Munich” festival inside the enormous beer tent with traditional German food and brews, as well as the dynamic live performance brought by an official Oktoberfest music band HÖGL FUN BAND all the way from Munich. Empowered by the synergy of entertainment, gastronomy and culture, it is a multi-sensory extravaganza that best epitomizes MGM’s “Tourism+” initiative, while featuring Macau as a UNESCO-designated Creative City of Gastronomy.
The Oktoberfest Macau at MGM 2023 is again unwaveringly supported by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Consulate General of Germany in Hong Kong and Macau, as well as the German Macau Business Association. The event was officially kicked off with the traditional beer keg tapping ceremony by Kenneth Feng, President and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited. Other officiating guests included Yang Yi, Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Fu Aimin, Director of The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao SAR; Stefan Bredohl, Consul General of Germany in Hong Kong; Christina Lau, Head of Department of Communication and External Relations Department of MGTO, and Tony Un, Chairman of German Macau Business Association.
Kenneth Feng, said, “Since MGM introduced the world’s acclaimed carnival Oktoberfest to Macau in 2009, Oktoberfest Macau at MGM has become an annual citywide brand IP event which perfectly manifests the synergy of gastronomy, creativity, culture, festivity and tourism. Entering into its 13th edition, MGM proudly presents a grand outdoor carnival for overseas visitors and locals. Leveraging our creativity and execution prowess, alongside Macau’s unique positioning as an international tourism city, MGM has endeavored to make Macau into an ideal destination for hosting Oktoberfest.”
Throughout the past 12 editions, Oktoberfest Macau at MGM has welcomed over 170,000 guests. It celebrates the essence of the quintessential Oktoberfest through the traditional German gourmet, entertainment and decorations, bringing the most authentic Bavarian party atmosphere to Macau. Staying in the blue-and-white Bavarian patterned beer tent and sitting by traditional long wooden tables, guests can enjoy genuine German Oktoberfest brew Löwenbräu, traditional German food and beverage, carnival booth games and cheer with waitresses in dirndl costumes. Every detail pays full homage to the original Oktoberfest in Germany.
What’s more, the crowd’s favorite Högl Fun Band once again flies over from Munich to hype up the nights with dynamic live performances, and essentially bringing back the staple theme song of Oktoberfest Macau at MGM, “Nei Hou, Macau!”. With Bavarian festivities in full bloom, guests can immerse into the most authentic German Oktoberfest, a cultural extravaganza featuring great food, beer and entertainment.
Oktoberfest Macau at MGM 2023 takes place between October 12 and 23, from 6pm to 12am daily at the 1/F Roof Terrace of MGM COTAI, with the Family Day session taking place on October 15 from 11am to 3pm. Admission tickets and table reservations are available for sale at both MGM properties from now till October 23.
