MGM COTAI Completes Topping Off

Iconic Jewelry Box Designed Integrated Resort Celebrates Key Construction Milestone

[Macau – November 6, 2015] MGM China Holdings Limited (“MGM China” or the “Company”, SEHK Stock Code: 2282) today celebrated a momentous happening in the Company’s history with the topping off of MGM COTAI, the second integrated resort of MGM China in Macau, with the presence of senior executives from  China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited.

Guests of Honor at the Topping Off Ceremony included Mr. Guan Qing, Chairman of China State Construction Engineering Corporation cum Chairman of China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited; Mr. Hao Jianmin, Vice Chairman & President of China Overseas Holdings Limited cum Executive Director, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of China Overseas Land & Investment Limited; Mr. Li Jianbo, Vice Chairman of China Overseas Holdings Limited; Mr. Zhou Yong, Vice Chairman of China Overseas Holdings Limited cum Executive Director, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of China State Construction International Holdings Limited; Mr. Jim Murren, Chairperson & Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited as well as Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of MGM Resorts International; Ms. Pansy Ho, Co-Chairperson and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, Mr. Bill Hornbuckle, Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited and Mr. Grant Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited.

The Ceremony was a combination of Chinese and Western traditions, echoing the success of MGM China with the union of both cultures. The Guests of Honor first gathered for a Chinese Bai Sun Ceremony of incense offering and roasted pig-cutting. Then a Western ritual was carried out with a pine tree being lifted to the highest beam of the building, along with eight fortune ornaments hung by the Guests of Honor to signify their wishes for a smooth completion of MGM COTAI, targeted to open in 2016.

MGM COTAI has been designed to represent the “jewelry box” of Cotai and plans to offer approximately 1,500 hotel rooms and suites, meeting space, high end spa, retail offerings and food and beverage outlets as well as the first international Mansion at MGM for the ultimate luxury experience.  MGM COTAI will offer Asia’s first dynamic theater and a spectacle to wow every guest who steps foot in our resort. MGM COTAI is being developed to drive greater product diversification and bring more advanced and innovative forms of entertainment to Macau as it grows as a global tourist destination.

Mr. Jim Murren said of the celebrated occasion, “MGM is synonymous with world class entertainment and customer service.  We are raising the bar here in Macau and are proud to be developing a never-been-seen-before design and entertainment experience at MGM COTAI. Today is a milestone for MGM’s history, and we are one more step closer to unveiling MGM COTAI.  When we open in 2016, this property will surely be a must- see attraction and a welcomed addition in making Macau a global tourism destination.”

Fun Facts of MGM COTAI

  1. The very iconic emblem of MGM – the Golden Lion will be guarding the Cotai property at 11m tall, gilded in imported 23carat gold leaves;

  2. The whole property used 16,700,000kg of steel, which is equivalent of steel weight used for over 18,000 cars;

  3. An approximately 300,000 m3 of reinforced concrete is used, which is the equivalent what it would take to fill more than 90 Olympic-sized swimming pools;

  4. A highlight of MGM COTAI is the Spectacle Show, which utilizes 23 LED Walls in one atrium space with an anticipated overall image presentation of over 80 megapixels. Its roof takes up 8,100m2, which is larger than a soccer field!

  5. The key entertainment feature will be a versatile, transformable Theater space with over 14 seating configurations, with a 180o immersive stage backdrop, and a resolution of over 26 megapixels;

  6. The first in our lineup of restaurants has been announced, Asia’s first Nikkei cuisine restaurant with Chef Mitsuharu Tsumura called AJI, will be welcoming diners with an avant-garde concept of Peruvian-Japanese cuisine.
