MGM held a Blessing Ceremony for its Dragon Boat Team on May 18 at Nam Van Lake Nautical Center, led by a team of senior executives to extend best wishes to the Team which will take part in the “Macau International Dragon Boat Races 2016” on June 4, 5 and 9. Consisting more than 95% of local team members from gaming and non-gaming departments, the Dragon Boat Team will split up into two sub teams to compete in four categories.
At the ceremony, the senior executives performed traditional rituals including incense-offering, suckling pig cutting and eye-dotting for the dragon boats. They then launched confetti cannons which signifies good luck to the Team just moments before the Team plunged right into their practice sessions. The MGM Dragon Boat Cheerleading Squad, formed by team members across both gaming and non-gaming departments, gave a spectacular performance with vigorous moves to cheer on the Dragon Boat paddlers.
Ms. Wendy Yu, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of MGM, said, “MGM has always encouraged team members to participate in various kinds of cultural, sports and community activities. It is through these experiences that we can build team spirt while strengthening the body and mind. We would like to thank the Dragon Boat Team members for their effort and contribution to the races and we look forward to achieving new heights together!”
MGM is committed to supporting cultural and sports events and has always actively participated in a number of local sports activities. The Dragon Boat Team, with team members from various different departments, have dedicated their spare time to intensive training over the past 12 months, setting the right tone from the get-go and striving to roar to new heights. They won the First Runner-Up in the 500 meters Macau Standard Dragon Boat Race in female category in 2015.
