MGM MACAU Donates MOP300,000 to Macau Holy House of Mercy

[Macau – April 12, 2014] MGM MACAU has donated MOP300,000 to Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Macau, known in English as Macau Holy House of Mercy, in support of the group’s Welfare Shop launched last year, which aids local households facing economic difficulties.
At 10am on Saturday, April 12, Mr. Grant R. Bowie, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of MGM China Holdings Limited, and Ms. Wendy Yu, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of MGM MACAU, led a volunteer team of 35 MGM team members on a visit to the Welfare Shop. They were warmly received by Mr. António José de Freitas, President of the Macau Holy House of Mercy; Mr. Manuel Pires, Member of the Macau Holy House of Mercy; Mr. José Ricardo das Neves, President of the Supervisory Committee; Ms. Gisela Fernandes Nunes, Secretary General; Mr. Armindo Ferreira, Director for Administration; Ms. Leong Ioc Va, Vice President of the Federation of Macau Workers Association; and Mr. Choi Tat Meng, Deputy Director of the General Union of Neighborhood Association of Macau. Mr. Bowie then presented the Macau Holy House of Mercy a donation check worth MOP300,000 to help fund its daily operations and charity projects. The MGM Volunteer Team also took the opportunity to distribute food hampers and handcarts to as many as 320 disadvantaged households.
Mr. Bowie said, “It’s our commitment to support worthwhile causes and charities, thus contributing to the development and continuous improvement of community services for the benefit of the whole society”.
MGM MACAU is dedicated to supporting charitable causes aimed at promoting personal and community development. In the years ahead, MGM MACAU will continue to give back to the community, and in doing so, invest in the future of Macau.
