MGM Team Members Visit Mao Zedong Photography Exhibition

To Strengthen Team Members’ National Pride through History Learning

Sep 6, 2019

Dedicated to cultivate team members’ patriotism and love for Macau, and to deepen their knowledge on contemporary Chinese history, a group of over 30 MGM team members paid a visit to the “Mao Zedong Emerged in China” photography exhibition in celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (“PRC”) and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao SAR, today at the Handover Gift Museum of Macao. The visit aimed to raise participating team members’ awareness of the country’s developments of the past, present and future through learning more about the story of Chairman Mao’s life.

As national education remains to be one of the top priorities when it comes to staff development, MGM aspires to enhance the sense of patriotism and national pride of team members, and at the same time encourages them to follow national development trends. This year, MGM has organized two exchange visits to China for management team members to explore Shenzhen and Guangzhou; workshops on national education have also been hosted, including the "Hosting World-class State-level Events in Macau” series where speaker from Diaoyutai State Guesthouse was invited to inspire team members. A visit to the “National Security Education Exhibition” has also been organized earlier this year to deepen team members’ knowledge on national security.

During the visit, team members learnt about the glorious past of Chairman Mao, his far-reaching impactful social theories and the early history of the PRC, through the historical photographs and exhibits as well as the informative sharing offered by the exhibition guide on site.

Jovi Ng, Director of Rooms, MGM COTAI shared his thoughts after the visit, “it has been a great pleasure having the opportunity to visit such large scaled exhibition of our national hero, here in our city, especially during this joyous year of Double Celebration. The exhibition content is indeed plentiful, that it felt very much like reading through a vivid history textbook of our nation’s contemporary history. I believe it is of high importance for us all to get a comprehensive knowledge of our national history, as it does help to broaden our vision when analyzing the current situation of our nation; the more we learn about our past, the more we treasure the prosperity and stability in the present.”
