MGM Supports Responsible Gaming with Keynote Speeches by U.S. Expert

Discussion Topics Focused on RG Initiatives and Corporate Social Responsibility

Apr 7, 2016

[April 7, 2016, Macau] MGM sponsored the 2nd Board Inauguration Ceremony & Keynote Speech of the Macau Gaming Management Association (MGMA) yesterday and invited Mr. Alan Feldman, Chairman of the National Center for Responsible Gaming and Executive Vice President of MGM Resorts International Global Affairs, to give the keynote speech at the event.  Earlier in the day, Mr. Feldman also provided an internal training session to MGM employees. The initiative is one of many under MGM’s Responsible Gaming Program, established since the opening of MGM MACAU.

At the 2nd Board Inauguration Ceremony of the MGMA, Dr. Davis Fong, President of the Association said, "Responsible gaming is a well-established topic in Macau. Our non-profit organization is dedicated to the idea of promoting the professionalizing of gaming management, and we will continue to bring worldwide expertise, like Mr. Feldman himself, into the community of Macau to promote public awareness of responsible gaming, as well as to contribute to the sustainable development of the industry and Macau’s prosperity and stability."

A foremost thought leader in the field of responsible gaming, Mr. Feldman has brought increased focus to the subject globally over the course of his career of over 25 years. He shared his experiences with an audience of more than 200 in two keynote sessions, including local industry experts at the MGMA event and MGM employees across multiple departments, covering topics such as the principles of responsible gaming, recreational gaming, self-limit and self-exclusion programs, measures that are devised in North America, and the importance of corporate social responsibility.

“The gaming industry should be committed to educating its employees as well as the public about responsible play,” Mr. Feldman said. “All of us in the industry should learn from one another about how responsible gaming programs are impacting our guests, and what works the best in sharing that information with them and our employees. This isn't just about any one company; this is about the entire industry, whether it’s in Macau, Singapore, United States or Canada. We all have a shared interest and shared responsibility.”

As an integrated resort operator in Macau, MGM values responsible gaming initiatives and the impact on the local community. The company has consistently supported MGMA since its inauguration in 2012, and have committed to supporting the Macau SAR government in continuously participating in a variety of responsible gaming activities, including the Annual Macau Responsible Gaming Week.
