Welcome To Our First Monthly MGM Sustainability Newsletter
Feb 15, 2016
We’re doing a lot behind the scenes at MGM to reduce our impact on the environment and support the people that mean the most to us, including all our employees and community. Contributing to a better Macau through our arts and culture program is also an important aspect of our approach. Through this newsletter we will share our monthly sustainability highlights with you, and hope you will join us in our sustainability programs to help us Create a Better Tomorrow Today.
As we transition to a new year, our first newsletter will share some of the highlights from the past year across our important sustainability areas.

Both programs are specifically aimed to identify high potential Macau local individuals to help them develop excel and rise through the ranks.
Environmental Sustainability
At MGM, we believe an environmentally-responsible business is a better business.
At MGM, we are aware that our planet’s supply of natural resources is limited. With this in mind we are actively engaged and committed to resource conservation and efficiency.
Energy: In 2015, we are proud to have reduced our annual consumption of energy by 2%. That’s the equivalent of not burning 711,000 kilograms, or over 34 truckloads, worth of coal.
Water: Water use was reduced by 6% year over year through many resource-saving techniques. This is the equivalent of saving 533,122 bath tubs of water.
Waste: Reducing waste is also fundamental to our program. In 2015, we reduced our waste sent to incinerator by 7% and recycled nearly 250 tons of materials, from cooking oil and paper, to IT equipment and metals.
Employee engagement: Our employees also joined in the fight to protect the environment by joining the Green Team, participating in MGM Energy Saving Week, and taking part in tree planting activities.
Recognition: For our efforts we are proud to have won two prestigious awards in 2015: The Macau Green Hotel Award and the ASHRAE Technology Award.
Community
We are proud to help create a better Macau through community engagement and contributions.
MGM’s approach to giving back to the Macau community is through community engagement programs and contributions, which focus on: Youth, Senior Citizens, Disabled as well as Arts and Culture. By donating our time, talents, skills and resources to those in need, we are proud to contribute to making Macau a better place.

We also give back to the community by contributing to the Arts and Cultural landscape of Macau.
In 2015, we hosted international and local exhibitions in our very own MGM Art Space, drawing thousands of visitors with exhibits such as:
Joana Vasconcelos’ Valykrie Octopus, exhibiting the spectacular work of Joana Vasconcelos, one of the most celebrated artists from Portugal. From March-October 2015, the incredible Valkyrie Octopus, commissioned especially for MGM, sat majestically above our aquarium in our Grande Praça;
